Yannika vapor deposits gold onto highly ordered pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) to form gold nanoparticles. Semiconductors are further electrodeposited to form nanowires. The characteristics of these wires are studied with scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Yannika is also looking at the surface properties of non-aqueous salt solutions.
